Sony PSN Welcome Back Programs ends early. Disappointment ensues!

Today Sony ended the Welcome Back Program a day early after promising that it would be available through July 3rd, but you only discovered this if you were actually able to recover your account in the first place. Read on to find my disappointment with Sony’s failure.

Q: When will I have access to the Welcome Back Program?

A: The content offered as part of the Welcome Back Program is available for download today and will be available through July 3.

As detailed on Sony Playstation blog site.

Being extremely busy, I waited until the last day possible to redeem my Welcome Back Program. Unfortunately for me, I forgot my password so I headed over to the Playstation website to reset. To my disappointment, the website is still under maintenance so I couldn't reset the password How convenient on the expiration day of the Welcome Back program!

So I decided to call support. Sony's U.S. support hours on Sunday are from 7am to 6:30pm PST as shown on Sony's website. When I tried calling their support line repeatedly, I was met with a constant ringtone. Not even with a "we are closed" voice message!

Lucky for me, I discovered there is a way to reset your password through qriocity.com, another Sony website. I followed the instructions here and was successfully able to finally access my account on my PS3. Happy with my success and annoyed at Sony’s confusing website, I went online to redeem my Welcome Back program offer, only to discover it ended yesterday at midnight. Yet Sony's multiple announcements said it would expire after July 3rd.

That is utter failure on almost every account possible, from start to finish. At least I'm not the only one so Sony might make amends.
